Theater 'De Spreng'

In 2017, the Alphens Cossack Choir celebrates its tenth anniversary. With many concerts of
course. Singing for ten years, but never in the cozy theater De Spreng in Oude Wetering !! That must be corrected quickly. The choir will be at full strength on Sunday afternoon, February 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. for a performance led by conductor Arkadi Gankin.
Special guests are the Russian singer Viktoria Pankratova and Igor Foersov, who plays on bajan, the Russian button accordion. Viktoria puts down an irrepressible Russian passion in her performances, which leaves no one untouched. The choir was able to book her at the last
minute.

The Alphens Cossack Choir, recently seen on Russian television, sings Russian Orthodox songs and cheerful, melancholy and romantic Cossack songs.

Zangeres Viktoria Pankratova

On Saturday evening October 29 at 8 p.m., Russian choral sounds and the more classical
tones of Chr. Immanuel male choir fill the monumental space of the Roman Catholic church
John the Baptist in Mijdrecht.
The Alphens Cossack Choir with conductor Arkadi Gankin sings a number of Russian
Orthodox songs before the break, Immanuel sings some spiritual songs. This choir is conducted by Jan Verhoef with Theo Griekspoor on the wing. Local singer, the soprano Pia Schütz, will make a solo contribution.
After the break, when you can enjoy a cup of coffee and admire the beautiful church, the
more secular repertoire is brought to the fore by both choirs. For the singers from Alphen aan
den Rijn, this means a series of uplifting and romantic Cossack songs with the guidance of
bay player Gankin.
The friends of the Roman Catholic Church John the Baptist sponsor the concert and provide a
completely new lighting. The entrance fee is € 13. The church is located at Driehuisplein 3 in
Mijdrecht.
Tickets are available from members of the choirs and from Mondria Bookshop in Mijdrecht
and De Bree Drugstore in Vinkeveen and at the church.
You can order your tickets for this concert on this site under the button “Contact”.

The Alphens Cossack Choir will perform a concert on Saturday 1 October 2016 in the Coptic
Orthodox monastery in Brenkhausen in Germany. This performance is part of a study
weekend of the Cossacks in Erwitzen-Nieheim.
The choir members, under the direction of conductor Arkadi Gankin, will work hard from September 29 to October 2 to work on further refinement of the singing technique, soloists,
performance, etc. The choir will withdraw for a few days in a Landgasthaus in Erwitzen- Nieheim. On Friday, September 30, baritone Georg Thauern (pictured right), known in Germany, will be giving a workshop for the choir.

In this way, we are working hard on a new series of concerts in Mijdrecht-Wilnis, Langeraar and in 2017 for the anniversary concert. The choir celebrated its tenth anniversary in April 2017.

The Alphens Cossack Choir will be ten years old next year, and has been under the direction of conductor Arkadi Gankin from the beginning. The repertoire has expanded to about 45 Russian Orthodox songs and cheerful, romantic and uplifting Cossack songs. The audience likes it and then the choir enjoys double.

This second anniversary is of course celebrated with the necessary party buzz. An anniversary committee has set to work on a varied programme, in which Russian music is of course central. In any case there will be an anniversary concert. You can read more about it on this website soon.

ALPHENS COZAKKOORKOOR SINGS IN LEKKERKERK

Lekkerkerk - 20 March 2016 -

The Alphens Cossack Choir sings the Byzantine-liturgical song “Velikaja Jektenia”, with soloists Hans van den Berg and Klaas Schulp, entering the St. Jans Church. Cossacks are very religious and loyal to the Russian Orthodox Church. Cossack choirs therefore always have liturgical music in their repertoire.

The choir, led by conductor, bajanist Arkadi Gankin, immediately stole the hearts of the audience. “Dwenadtsat Razbojnikov” introduced those present to the song of the “twelve robbers”. Those who sing in a choir also recognized “Kolj Slavjen” ; that they themselves had sung as “Ich bete an der Macht der Liebe”. The real Cossack repertoire created a special atmosphere in the church. Anna Samoilova accompanied the Cossacks with her violin and Nico van Vliet provided the percussion. The choir closed with “Prosjanieje Slavjankie”, a legendary farewell march. After his acceptance speech, Mr van der Graaf persuaded the choir to sing an encore.
